Our Story

So what’s a Serauxman?

In 1967 a few young guys looked around Nanaimo’s service clubs, found the youngest members were already in their fifties, and decided to start their own. No national chapter, no international dues — just a crew of grateful guys who wanted to give back. The long name got shortened. The idea didn’t.

Our biggest legacy

Serauxmen Stadium

The old mine site behind NDSS was coal slag when Nanaimo Minor Baseball needed a field. The Serauxmen stepped up as a major fundraiser. On July 31, 1976, Mickey Mantle helped open the park — and today the Nanaimo NightOwls play West Coast League ball there every summer, with the Serauxmen running the 50/50 in the stands.
